2006 & 2007
1. How long
were you in Europe and why did you go?
I was in Europe for 15 days and I went with Nina to see Wolhan who was studying
abroad in Paris. The whole trip was AWESOME!!
2. How many
countries did you visit?
We only went to 2 countries. France, obviously, since I was in Paris. The second
was Italy. We went to Rome for 2 days. It was really cool because I got to see
my brother (Matt) who was studying in Italy for 3 weeks. The first day we got to
Rome was the last day he was there. I only got to see him for a few hours though
because he had a final in the morning and then left Rome and went to Pompeii I
think.
3. Which country
was your favorite and why?
I'm not sure which country was my favorite. Both have their pros and cons. Paris
was absolutely BEAUTIFUL! And we got to say in Wolhan's roommate's (Oliver)
apartment for free. But, Paris is really really expensive and we didn't exactly
buy and eat the cheapest things. And, sometimes, the French could be a little
rude to us Americans.
Rome was also stunning... in a different way than Paris. Rome was just so much
older and had a much longer history compared to Paris (both cities have sooo
much more history and are more exciting than Long Beach ever will be). The
Italians were also really nice.
It's really hard to pick a favorite... but if I really had to I would say Paris.
The one thing that surprised me about both cities is that they were pretty
dirty. Most of Rome's ancient statues were dark from dirt and there was a lot of
graffiti. Not counting the center of Paris, there was a lot of trash and
graffiti in France. And both countries need to learn to pick up after their
dogs!
4. Do you have any
fun, exciting, embarrassing, or scary moments that you would like to share?
I have moments of all of the above. There's way too many to put on here... but
to name a few: Fernanda (lol... I don't even know what to say... just ask us
about it), New Years, Normandy, Rome, Wolhan not having his passport to get to
Italy, more Fernanda, site seeing, Oliver being embarrassed by us, eating,
drinking, more drinking, Edgar (Wolhan's cousin), more site seeing. All in all
there are so many wonderful memories
5. Anything you
want to add?
I want to thank Wolhan for studying abroad thus giving us the chance to visit
him. Thanks to Oliver for letting us stay. Thanks for Fernanda to saving Nina
and I in Rome. Europe is an amazing place and EVERYONE NEEDS to take time to
travel (no matter where you go) to explore and see new places, meet new people,
experience different cultures, learn new ways of life, and live life to it's
fullest.
