Big West Conference Championships: MEN take back the
Championship!

Northridge, CA: The Long Beach State won the Big West Conference title
for the second time in 3 years. The men's distance team had 5 different
scorers in the meet. Steeple: Dylan Jaedtke. 800:
David Holley, Hudson Wilvers, Alex Freitas. 1,500: Alex Freitas.
10,000: Josh Ruff, Travis Kuhlman. As for the women, the team
finished fourth and the distance team scored with 4 different ladies. Steeple:
Carly Harris. 1,500: Jennifer Rodriguez, Sarah Apgar.
10,000: Kristina Wilson.

Steve Scott Invite. Day 2: Final Tune up before Big West
Championships

UC Irvine: Apgar and Kuhlman lead the way again, this time in the
1500m. . Sarah Apgar, finished off with a 4:34.15 performance.
Travis Kuhlman followed up with a 3:57.52 p.r. for the season. Next week
the distance team will have the weekend off, before heading into the Big West
Championships.

Steve Scott Invite. Day 1: Oak Ridge Alum Continue
Steeple Success

UC Irvine: Freshmen Josh Arrietta and Josh Ruff continued their steeple
success today. Arrietta bettered his 3000m steeple time by 10 seconds
running 9:28. Ruff shaved off five seconds from last weeks performance, by
running 9:39. Not only did Ruff run a p.r. but he also ran the qualifying
time to run in the steeple for the Big West Conference Championships. Both
men along with Dylan Jaedtke will represent Long Beach State in the steeple.

Drake Relays: Freitas Anchors (1:48.S!) Sprint
Medley to Victory

Des Moines Iowa: 38 degree weather chilled the track at the start of
the Drake Relays sprint medley. What started with a solid opening in the
200m by Austin Fowler, continued with even more success with Brent Gray (200m),
Kelsey Cesar (400m) and finally Alex Freitas (800m). It was the
first time in school history in which Long Beach State has won an event at the
Drake Relays.

UCSD Triton Invitational: Dylan Jaedtke Back at It

Dylan Jaedtke tied his collegiate personal record (9:17) as he ran away from
the field in the 3000m steeple. Josh Ruff had a great debut in the steeple
(9:44) narrowly missing the conference qualifying time of 9:40.

MT. SAC Relays: Freitas Wins, Apgar & Kuhlman Solid
Again

Alex Freitas continues to roll at the MT. SAC Relays by winning his section
in the 800m on Sunday. Thursday night's distance carnival action was
highlighted by another solid performance by Sarah Apgar (16:56) and Travis
Kuhlman (14:29) in the 5k.

BEACH Invitational: Busy Weekend for Distance Team

Many worked, some competed and few doubled at our Beach Invitational and the
MT. SAC Relays during the weekend. The surprise performance of the weekend
went to Carly Harris in the 3000m steeple on Saturday at the Beach Invitational.
Carly ran 11:14 for her first steeple ever and just two days after running a
17:42 5000m at MT. SAC. Both times qualify her for the Big West Conference
Championships, as she is now eligible to run the 1500m, 3000m steeple, and
5000m.

LBSU wins four way team scored challenge between UCSB, UCI, and CSUF.
Josh Ruff had a breakthrough performance in the 3000m as he finished in 5th with
a time of 8:41.

Stanford Invitational: Kuhlman & Apgar Lead the Way

Travis Kuhlman leads the men with a 14:29 5000m finish. Sarah Apgar
leads the women with a 16:56 5000m finish.

Nike Invitational: Freitas Picks Up Regional Qualifier in
the 800m

USC Invitational: Distance Continues On The Upswing

Sarah Apgar lead the women with the strongest finish of the day, running 4:34.08
for 1500m. The women's team had four runners run 4:40 or better for the
1500m. As for the men, Alex Freitas was the top performer of the day
running 3:52.58 for 1500m.

Alumni Update: Dan Estrella & Wolhan Ovalle in
Europe

From left to right (Daniel Estrella c/o 06 & Wolhan Ovalle c/o 07) former
distance runners for Long Beach State had an opportunity to spend some time in
Europe. Wolhan spent a semester studying abroad in France, while Dan flew
